​We are located just steps from the Whiteface Club and Resort's 18 hole Championship Golf Course, and only a few steps more to reach Lake Placid, the Whiteface Club and Resort Marina, Beach, Tennis Center, Nordic Center, and two restaurants. Dining On Property

Moose Lodge Boathouse: located at the Club's Marina; only restaurant directly on Lake Placid.  Open Memorial Day - Labor Day for lunch, dinner and cocktails

Cafe on the Green: located steps out our back door, next to the putting green. Lunch, dinner and cocktails. Check website for off season hours and menus​

Lake Placid Lodge- $$$$$$  a short walk from the house adjacent to the 9th fairway; must call for reservations, as it is only open to Lodge guests and Whiteface Club guests. 518 523 2700.

 

Food Stores

Both Price Chopper and Hannaford are a little over a mile from the house. Green Goddess Natural Market is a health-conscious option.​

On property

• Golf at the Whiteface Club– our club course is rate 5th in NY state. Ask us about golf vouchers available for purchase - discounted greens fees plus cart. Usually, prime time walk on is $120.

• ​Tennis at the Whiteface Club - the club has 5 Har Tru courts and a pro shop with lessons available.

• ​Beach/Marina at the Whiteface Club Marina - beach with no lifeguard; beach passes provided. Marina rents all kinds of watercraft for your use (fees apply)  You are welcome to use our blow up SUP, stored in the garage.

• ​Hiking from the Whiteface Club - trailhead to the Jackrabbit Trail is directly across from our development on the main access road; the trail leads to Mt McKenzie and Haystack.  You can also head down to the Peninsula dam and trail right from here.

• Cross Country Skiing at the Whiteface Club - in winter, the resort grooms cross country trails on the golf course - you can access right from our back deck! You can rent any equipment you need from the Club's Nordic Center, about 50 yds from our home.

• Ice Skating at the Whiteface Club - the resort creates a SMALL ice rink on the putting green in winter, perfect for the littles!

Golf

• Lake Placid Golf Club- two 18 holes and one 9 hole executive course

• Saranac Inn Golf Club- about a half hour drive, pretty good course 

• Craig Wood Golf Course- public course just outside of town.

• Saranac Lake Golf Club- 9 hole public course with great rates, great for kids, not the best fairways.​

Water Sports

• You can rent all sorts of equipment at Mirror Lake Boat rental (518) 524-7890. If you want to rent a power boat for use on Lake Placid, you can try: Captain Marney's Boat Rental - :(518) 523-9746, Placid Boat Rentals (518) 523-3219

• If you have time, river rafting/tubing down the Ausable Chasm is a great family adventure - about a 1 hr drive

Winter Sports

• Ski Whiteface Mountain - if you'd rather not drive, there is a free shuttle that leaves from the Price Chopper parking lot

Loop around Mirror Lake is a flat 2.7 miles

• Wonderful road rides throughout the area, as Lake Placid is a premier host of Ironman.

• Great mountain biking on the Loggers Trails, across from Lake Placid golf club.

• The Adirondack Rail trail is newly opened and spectacular - great family activity!

 

Other fun family-friendly activities

• Whiteface Summit - drive up Veterans Memorial Highway (there is a toll), and then take the stairway (or elevator) the last .7 miles - 360 degree spectacular views

• Mt Van Hoevenberg Olympic Complex - try your hand at bobsled, biathalon, and tons of other fun adventures

• Wilmington Flume - a short path off the road leads to a spectacular falls with cliff jumping, a rope swing, and a swimming hole

• Olympic Ski Jump Complex - super fun zip line, skyride gondola, and watch aspiring aerialists practice on Wacky Wednesdays in the summer

• Boating the Saranac Chain - grab some sandwiches from the Dack Shack, rent a boat from the Lake Flower Marina, and spend the day touring the Saranac Chain by boat, complete with two self-operated locks!

• No visit to the area would be complete without visiting The Lake Placid Olympic Museum

• John Brown Farm and Homestead - well worth visiting for this important moment in US History

• The Wild Center - great family friendly destination that brings the history of the ADKs to life

• Catch a play at the Pendragon theater in Saranac Lake​

• Lake Placid Center for the Arts- always has events
